King Crimson: Red (40th Anniversary) (Limited Edition) (Steven Wilson Mix) (200g) (LP)

When King Crimson entered the studio in July 74, the band had two years of intensive touring and the release of the albums "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" and "Starless & Bible Black" behind them. Jamie Muir (percussion) and David Cross (violin/mellotron) had left the band and at the same time the band cemented its reputation as one of the strongest bands on the international rock scene. With many former members and friends on sax, violin, oboe and clarinet, the band produced "Red", the last Crimson studio album of the 70s and a true masterpiece of the decade that inspired numerous musicians and bands such as Steve Vai, Vernon Reid, Primus and many more. Steven Wilson & Robert Fripp's 5.1 remix from 2009 received great acclaim and the CD/DVD audio once again became a bestseller. However, the album is the only one of the 40th Anniversary series that has not yet received a new stereo mix. Fripp and Wilson recently completed the stereo mix, which is included in the box set "The Road to Red".
