King Crimson: Sheltering Skies

The complete concert from Fréjus, France, recorded from the original multitrack tapes by Robert Fripp & Brad Davis. Additional performance of "The Sheltering Sky" in Cap D'Agde included. Originally recorded for a video release, the audio of the concert will now appear for the first time as a stand-alone release. This is also the first time a live album from the 1980s line-up has been released on vinyl. King Crimson from the 1980s was less than a year old in terms of concert appearances and album releases when this album was recorded. The collective decades of experience of the individual musicians is combined with the enthusiasm and freshness of the line-up and the newness of the material to create a special concert recording. The energy and enthusiasm of the audience is palpable on the recordings, which feature King Crimson (the band played a joint tour with Roxy Music) in Fréjus, France in the late summer of 1982. With material from two albums (Discipline, October 1981 & Beat, June 1982) and extensive touring that had already taken the band to gigs in the UK, Europe, the US and Japan, the live shows - as so often with King Crimson - had a dynamism and impact that could not be matched in a recording test
