Therion: Theli

Recorded at Impuls Studio (Cradle Of Filth, KMFDM) in Hamburg, Therion put to tape the songs that would change their career and future budget situation forever. The result, called "Theli", was showered with positive reviews from the trade press, sales doubled within a month compared to its predecessor "Lepaca Kliffoth" and suddenly there was an offer to go on tour with Finnish label mates Amorphis. To celebrate what was to become one of the ultimate metal classics of the 90s, Therion are now releasing a new edition of their fifth studio album "Theli", which includes their mega-hit 'To Mega Therion', the outstanding, almost 10-minute epic 'The Siren Of The Woods' and the equally anthemic 'Cults Of The Shadow'. The deluxe edition of "Theli" also contains the following three bonus tracks: 'In Rememberance', 'Black Fairy', the Scorpions cover version 'Fly To The Rainbow' as well as a bonus DVD with the entire album as a live show and will be released on February 21, 2014 via Nuclear Blast. Formed in 1987, Therion have evolved from a pure death metal combo into one of the first acts to venture into the world of classical music. Their 1996 album "Theli" not only marked their breakthrough as a band, but also became one of the albums that defined the standard for what is now known as symphonic metal and has long been established as a genre. It features two choirs and, among others, Dan Swanö from Edge Of Sanity, who contributed his vocal talents alongside numerous other musical guests.
