Once you have heard your way through a certain amount of operas, cantatas, concertos and chamber music that the immensely industrious Georg Philipp Telemann has left to posterity, you might assume that there will soon be nothing new. This is far from the case, as the latest production by Camerata Köln and its conductor Michael Schneider demonstrates: The "Six Quatuors ou Trios 1733" are no mere continuation of their Telemann concerti da camera. They differ thoroughly from those: polyphonic, chromatic purrs, delicate cantilenas, extremely virtuoso (and virtuosically executed) miniatures, and at the end a series of antique female portraits in the contemporary colors of the "Getreue Music-Meister" - if anything is repeated here, it is the astonishment at an almost limitless, inexhaustible imagination.
