Pat Metheny: Side-Eye III+

Acclaimed jazz guitarist and composer Pat Metheny returns with "Side-Eye III+", the first release from his newly founded label Uniquity Music. A bold evolution of Metheny's long-running Side-Eye project, "Side-Eye III+" expands on the concept he introduced as a platform for nurturing exceptional young talent from his musical circle. At its core, the album captures Metheny's intuitive interplay with keyboardist Chris Fishman and drummer Joe Dyson - the trio that forms the core of his Side-Eye ensemble on stages around the world. But in the studio, the music revealed a larger vision - one that required a broader orchestral sound palette. To realize this expansive sound, Metheny expanded the group to include additional musicians, including bassist Daryl Johns, harpist Brandee Younger, percussionist Luis Conte and a vocal ensemble led by Take 6's Mark Kibble. "Side-Eye III+" was recorded with immediate intensity and at the same time great depth, combining precise interplay with versatile, experimental improvisation. Complemented by the contributions of a diverse line-up - from harp and percussion to a complex vocal ensemble - the album underscores Metheny's lifelong commitment to musical curiosity, collaboration and pushing boundaries.
