Moderat: More D4ta (LP)

Electronic craftsmanship After the information overload of the last few years, you don't really feel like listening to "More D4ta" anymore, but in this case you do: "More D4ta" is the name of Moderat's new album. After the Berlin electro trio, which was formed in 2002 from the merger of the DJ duo Modeselektor and the musician Apparat, had announced a longer break in 2017, it now ends this after six years and reports back with its fourth long player in 2022. The last album to be released was "III" in 2016, which reached number five in the charts in this country. And that's what "More D4ta" is all about: the last few years. Created at a time when touring was impossible, it wrestles with feelings of isolation and information overload. Regarding the new music, Modeselektor's own label Monkeytown Records writes: "After nearly two decades of making music together, Sascha Ring (Apparat), Gernot Bronsert & Sebastian Szary (Modeselektor) have developed a sound and aesthetic all their own, and 'More D4ta' shows a group that is creatively charged and fully dedicated to their craft." And elsewhere, "The ten songs on 'More D4ta' are rooted in collaboration, but long before any of the tracks were recorded, Moderat spent months reacquainting themselves musically, experimenting extensively and slowly developing ideas as they delved into modular compositions, field recordings and other sonic oddities."
