José Miguel Moreno is certainly the most important Spanish specialist in the field of historical plucked instruments. For this compilation he uses a whole series of historical instruments or their faithful replicas. His aim is to revive the important repertoire from the long history of the Spanish guitar. From the Vihuelists Narváez, Milán and Mudarra to the great names of the Romantic period, such as Fernando Sor or Johann Kaspar Mertz, to the great post-Romantic masters Tárrega and Llobet. With this double album, Moreno succeeds in providing a varied overview that leads through four centuries of Spanish guitar music with inexhaustible musicality.
