Miles Davis: Star People

On this 1983 release, Miles Davis rediscovers the blues. In addition to the band members from the "We Want Miles" album, the recordings also feature John Scofield for the first time, who played alongside Mike Stern in Davis' band in late 1982 and early 1983. Marcus Miller plays on five of the six tracks and was later replaced by Tom Barney. Al Foster and Mino Cinelu can be heard on drums and percussion. Miles Davis plays trumpet and often the Oberheim synthesizer at the same time (without the use of overdubs) as well as a separately recorded intermezzo for the 18+ minute blues 'Star People'.
