Popis
In the early 1950s, Charles Aznavour, a French singer of Armenian descent, struggled to win over audiences and faced ridicule and rejection. Despite these challenges, he remained determined. Aznavour became Edith Piaf's secretary in 1946 and learned the intricacies of performing and songwriting. Although Piaf considered him a close colleague, she never saw him as a romantic, and Aznavour longed for success as a performer, not just a composer. His breakthrough came on December 12, 1960, when he received a standing ovation for his song Je m'voyais déjà at the Alhambra in Paris, launching his rise to fame. In the 1960s, his hits, including "For Me formidable", "Et pourtant", "La Bohème" and "Emmenez-Moi", cemented his status as a superstar. In his songs, Aznavour often reflected on the past and collective memory, and titles such as Non, je n'ai rien oublié were about love and time. He also tackled social issues, such as in "Comme Ils Disent" (1972), in which he spoke openly about homosexuality. This Collected Edition also contains a selection of the chansons "Jezebel", "She", "La Bohème", "For Me Formidable", "Comme Ils Disent", "J'ai Vu Paris", duets with Johnny Hallyday, Frank Sinatra and many other classics. The fantastic musical biographical film "Monsieur Aznavour" about the life of Charles Aznavour has just been released. Collected by Charles Aznavour is available as a limited edition on crystal clear vinyl. The 3LP is housed in a triple sleeve and includes a 4-page booklet with liner notes.
