Tony Bennett is an institution in the US entertainment business. For many decades, the 15-time Grammy Award winner has been one of the most popular and successful singers in the world, his sound and style have shaped generations of musicians and delighted millions of fans on every continent. He sang in front of eleven US presidents
On August 3, 2011, the New Yorker celebrated his 85th birthday. Bennett took the day of honor as an opportunity to record an album with colleagues from a wide variety of genres and backgrounds - thus, in addition to soul icon Aretha Franklin and country legend Willy Nelson, the track listing on "Duets II" also includes names such as Andrea Bocelli, Queen Latifah and Lady Gaga. And with "Body And Soul" a duet with the recently deceased singer Amy Winehouse
The recording of "Duets II" took place over the past four months under the direction of producer Phil Ramone. The album is the follow-up to "Tony Bennett Duets: An American Classic," which was released in 2006, won three Grammys and became the most successful release of Bennett's long and glorious career.
