In the years 1715 to 1718 the Kapellmeister opened himself up at the Barfüßerkirche in the free imperial city Frankfurt am Main, Georg Philipp Telemann, a a new dimension of public action. He self-published four printed works, including the six "Partien" (games) for violin or transverse flute or oboe and b. c., which he under the title "Little Chamber Music." The dedication preface to this collection is not as usual- to a noble patron, but to a successful one, famous bourgeois - to important musicians of time. This shows a completely new, proud self-image of the artists among themselves The Partites consist of each from one Preludio and six Aria named movements of different character. Despite these seemingly formal uniformity, the cycle impresses with its unique wealth of ideas, and not without reason telemann has just emerged in later years from this Small chamber music for other works thematically served: His musical world in miniature! Our new recording with the Camerata Cologne makes a small fireworks display out of it!
