Popis
In the meantime he has lost his bad reputation as a frequent writer of recorder sonatas and domestic music for all occasions, but only slowly does a broader public become aware of his real significance
Georg Philipp Telemann
The most respected and best-known composer of his century, forty years "Director musices" of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and probably one of the most vigorous and versatile original geniuses of his time. The paradox of its reception: the most important works, to which his oratorios, cantatas and operas necessarily belong, are still unknown. He (who died very old in 1767, 3 years before Beethoven's birth) breaks new musical ground here like none of his contemporaries. Joke. Originality and a sheer inexhaustible melodic inventiveness finally make it possible to understand why Telemann
possessed
this oversized
popularity
This
month, Cpo launches a small Telemann edition, but it's got a lot of surprises
in store
In
the first publication we have the magnificent Magnificat in G major, probably from Telemann's early days in Leipzig, coupled with the oratorio from the Hamburg Captain's Music of 1730
Among other things, they are involved as soloists: Mieke van der Sluis, Phillip Langshaw and Harry van der Kamp. The Alsfelder Vokalensemble will be accompanied by the Baroque Orchestra Bremen under the direction of Wolfgang Helbich.
