For all Volkmann fans, and there are more of them than you might think, there is now good news: Our cycle of works by the German-Hungarian master continues! This month we are releasing perhaps his most popular works to date in a brilliant new production: The Three Serenades for string orchestra. It is light, yet typically romantic music with a slightly elegiac tone. Volkmann himself called them "modest" and "little harmless pieces". Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, his contemporaries loved his serenades, the third of which is a veritable mini cello concerto. As a special treat, there is also a delightful rarity: The Serenade in G minor by Carl Reinecke. The Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss plays and Johannes Goritzki conducts.
