Popis
In 1716, Georg Philipp Telemann published a collection of 6 "games" in Frankfurt, which he entitled "Die Kleine Kammermusik" (Small Chamber Music) and which was something of a calling card for him for the musical world of the time. The fact alone that he dedicated them to three middle-class persons and not to a nobleman was program for the convinced republican. But stylistically he is also completely with himself here and shows what he can and wants: French and Italian influences finally united in the "mixed style", singable melody in the slow, lively rhythm and folkloristic-looking cheekiness in the fast movements. Especially his love for Polish-Hanakian folk music becomes evident. The "Little Chamber Music" probably had the success Telemann had hoped for: in 1728 he published a reprint, and sometime between these editions he produced orchestral versions of the six parts, which we present here for the first time. What is special about these arrangements is that Telemann precedes each of the partitas with an extended, newly composed French overture: The "Little Chamber Music" has become "Great Orchestra Music". Michael Schneider and his baroque orchestra La Stagione turn it into an acoustic feast.
