Popis
The fact that Erich Wolfgang Korngold was probably the most astonishing musical prodigy of this - no, of the last century - is by now common knowledge. In other words: a noticeable renaissance has increased his level of awareness considerably. When one encounters the works of the very young Korngold, however, one is always amazed anew at the perfection, mastery and inner maturity with which this adolescent mastered even great forms. An impressive example of this is his Violin Sonata op. 6, which he wrote at the age of 15. Not only does it place high, sometimes even extreme demands on the performers, but the listener is also confronted with unexpected expressivity and complexity. It is a dramatically charged gesture that fills this half-hour work with unrelenting intensity. This early master composition is the focus of our complete recording of all of Korngold's works for violin and piano, featuring the phenomenal young violinist Sonja van Beek, accompanied by Andreas Frölich on piano. The other works on this CD show the other Korngold, who conjures up little gems with melting and Viennese charm, such as his own arrangements of arias from the "Dead City" and the "Miracle of Heliane" or the enchanting suite "Much ado about nothing".
