Popis
"God Save the Queen": When Exposure was released in June 1979, Robert Fripp embarked on one of the most unconventional tours ever undertaken to promote a new album: Record stores, offices, public places, canteens, planetariums and later a few conventional stages and theaters. Accompanied by a tour manager, a Les Paul guitar, a pedal board and two Revox tape machines, he made his way through Europe and America in a car. This tour provided material for many more albums. Under Heavy Manners: The second side of the LP is dedicated to Fripp's next phase towards 1981, when his idea of creating a bespoke mix between the repetitive loops of the Frippertronics sound and a pulsating four-to-the-floor beat was often referred to as Discotronics. Together with bassist Busta Cherry Jones and drummer Paul Duskin, the trio created a tight and minimalist beat that stood against the Frippertronic loops that came from the tour earlier in the year. The trio line up was extended by David Byrne as guest vocalist on the title track.
