Tony Williams launched his solo career at Blue Note in 1964 with the album "Life Time", after which he later named his groundbreaking fusion band. The then 18-year-old presented himself not only as an enormously powerful drummer, but also as an astonishingly clever composer. Twenty years later, he returned to the label to pick up where he left off with a modern, acoustic hard bop quintet on albums such as "Civilization".
