Popis
Since their first appearance together in 2009, when Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared as guests on the finale of the eighth season of American Idol, which Adam Lambert attended, the Queen + Adam Lambert combination has become one of the world's biggest drawing touring bands. Their recent tour of Oceania saw them sell out to huge audiences, with a single show at Sydney's ANZ Stadium attracting a record crowd of over 60,000. To date, the band has played to audiences worldwide approaching 4 million people. Had times been different, Brian, Roger and Adam would have just finished another tour with a colossal run of 27 shows in 9 European countries. However, the arrival of COVID-19 forced them to postpone their upcoming UK and European summer tour until next year. With this in mind, Queen + Adam Lambert looked for other ways to console the nearly half a million disappointed fans who were already in possession of tickets. It was at this point that they first turned to YouTube. With 12.5 million subscribers already following them, they were no strangers to the platform. The band presented a special Queen + Adam Lambert "Tour Watch Party," an hour-long show featuring live highlights from previous tours around the world. The positive engagement from fans worldwide showed that the show could go on despite the global blackout of live shows. But it wasn't just the 500,000+ audience members who were impressed, but the band themselves. The set includes a compilation of concert highlights personally selected by Taylor, May and Lambert from over 200 shows they have performed at, some of which are available here for the very first time. These include concerts from Rock in Rio, Lisbon, to the Isle of Wight festival in the UK, Summer Sonic, Japan, selected tour dates from the UK and North America and - from one of their very last performances before closing - the Fire Fight Australia benefit show. All formats include the band's entire 22-minute performance at Fire Fight Australia, where they performed Queen's original history-making 1985 Live Aid set in full: Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. Even Freddie Mercury's iconic Ay-Ohs are performed. The twenty tracks featured include firm Queen fan favourites such as "Don't Stop Me Now" and "I Want To Break Free", as well as rarities such as their versions of the Freddie Mercury-penned tracks "Love Kills" and "I Was Born To Love You". The live album is available in CD, CD+DVD, CD+Blu-ray and vinyl versions, with the DVD and Blu-ray containing additional performance footage including a "Drum Battle" by Roger Taylor with drummer son Rufus Taylor and a guitar solo by Brian May "Last Horizon". Queen + Adam Lambert's only track released to date, their lockdown version of "You Are The Champions," all proceeds of which will benefit the World Health Organization's Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund, was viewed nearly 4 million times on YouTube in its first month.
