Over 20 years ago, the excellent Orlando Consort dedicated its first recording to the works of Loyset Compère (ca. 1445-1518). Now the ensemble turns again to this important Franco-Flemish Renaissance master. We hear his wonderful Magnificat, which according to the latest research was composed fifteen years before Josquin's famous setting, and a selection of motets and chansons.
