Between 1958 and 1961, trumpeter Donald Byrd and baritone saxophonist Pepper Adams worked together on a whole series of recordings, with sometimes one and sometimes the other acting as session leader. The album "The Cat Walk", recorded in May 1961, is one of the best recordings by this duo. With the support of a rhythm section led by pianist Duke Pearson, the two wind players are on top form here. With the exception of one number, the program consists exclusively of swinging hard bop originals by Byrd and Pearson.
