To mark the 40th anniversary of his victory in a singing competition as a member of a choir from his home town of Modena in 1955, Luciano Pavarotti fulfills a long-held promise and returns to the small town in North Wales to give a very special gala concert at the 1995 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. On this evening Pavarotti will be accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Leone Magiera, the modern Corale Gioachino Rossini from Modena conducted by Paolo Rossini and, for the finale, the Japanese soprano Atzuko Kawahara. The program includes popular opera arias and choruses, Neapolitan songs, an original composition by Pavarotti, orchestral introductions and interludes as well as a very special duet for the finale. This release is on Blu-ray, with the picture upscaled to the highest possible quality and the sound remastered to present this historic event with LPCM stereo sound.
