The current comeback of British jazz can be traced back to Courney Pine, who was the figurehead of UK jazz in the 1980s. The saxophonist, who is still active today, not only refers to role models such as John Coltrane in his music, but as an acid jazz icon has also always incorporated reggae, soul and hip-hop into his dynamic sounds.
