In 2024, the jazz-punk trio The Messthetics from Washington DC, consisting of members of the punk band Fugazi, and the New York-based jazz tenor saxophonist James Brandon Lewis joined forces for the first time for their Impulse! album debut. Fans and the media were enthusiastic and praised their music as an "interface between free improvisation and the spirit of punk-influenced rock'n'roll" (Glide Magazine). After an acclaimed European tour with over 150 concerts, the musicians have now recorded the follow-up album "Deface The Currency", which once again tops its predecessor in terms of energy, sound and songwriting. The band has developed into an impressive unit that impresses with complex unison lines, edgy melodies and powerful improvisations.
