The musically conservative Prussian King Frederick II had little interest in the music of his chamber harpsichordist Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, although he composed several concertos for flute during his tenure at the Prussian court, the original addressee of which could well have been the flute-playing Frederick II. For ALPHA, Alexis Kossenko and Arte dei Suonatori have recorded all of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's flute concertos and are able to offer themselves and us a warm welcome to this delightful music. In any case, this recording casts doubt on the Prussian king's musical judgment.
