Weighty major works
Victor Julien-Laferrière, the first winner of the prestigious Concours Reine Elisabeth for cellists in 2017, also won the Victoire de la Musique Classique in the category "Soloist of the Year" in 2018 and joined the ALPHA CLASSICS label for several recordings in 2019. Here he presents cello concertos by Dvořák and Martinů. Both composers share a strong affinity with the music of their homeland and an important experience in the United States - even if the reasons for traveling there were admittedly of a completely different nature. With this recording Julien-Laferrière combines two weighty major works of the concertante cello repertoire by two important representatives of the Czech school.
