New DVD from pianist Hiromi, playing solo live from the Blue Note jazz club New York. This 98 minute concert was recorded during Hiromi's 'Place to Be' tour at the world renowned Blue Note on August 20th and 21st, 2010. The set includes nearly the entire 'Place to Be' album, together with 2 tracks from previous releases and 24 minutes of bonus content. If you haven't seen Hiromi's solo concert, you will be amazed by both her musical and physical performance - it is really quite special. Echoing this is All About Jazz recently calling Hiromi "the Hendrix of the piano". The bonus content is a visual road map of sorts, highlighting Hiromi's travel experiences and inspiration for some of the tracks on 'Place to Be'. For instance, there is Hiromi walking the streets of Boston and around her alma mater, the Berklee School of Music which inspired "Cape Cod Chips". She is playing at Mariann's Jazzroom in Berne which spawned "Berne, Baby, Berne!". There is incredible concert footage from a packed theatre in Tbilisi, Georgia and then on to New York where the video was shot. There is an option for English subtitles for the Japanese dialogue in the bonus content.
